Privacy Policy

Occultis was designed with a total focus on user privacy and anonymity. This policy describes how we operate to ensure that the absolute minimum amount of data is processed for the service to function.

1. Minimal Data Collection & Permissions

Following the principle of "Privacy by Design", Occultis limits data collection to what is strictly necessary:

Authentication: When using "Log in with Google", we access only your email address.
Camera Access: We request access to your device's camera exclusively so you can take and send photos in real-time within the chat. We do not request access to your device's photo gallery, nor do we save any photos taken with the app to your device's local storage. All images sent are ephemeral.
What we DO NOT collect: We do not request, access, or store your name, profile picture, aliases, device contact list, or location data.

2. Ephemeral Messages and Storage

The Occultis architecture is based on the transience of information:

Automatic Deletion: All messages and images exchanged through the platform are automatically deleted from our system after 60 seconds. Additionally, any conversation that remains inactive for more than 5 minutes is entirely removed.
Database Infrastructure (Firebase): While Occultis programmatically deletes all data (messages, images, and inactive chats) as described, our application utilizes Google Firebase as its backend database. Therefore, the actual physical deletion of this data from the storage servers is subject to Google Firebase's data retention and deletion policies. We cannot determine or guarantee the exact timeline for when this data is permanently wiped from their physical servers.
No Chat Logs: We do not keep logs, backups, or archives of messages after the aforementioned periods. Once elapsed, the content becomes unrecoverable for the sender, the recipient, and the service itself.

3. Use of Information

Your email address is used exclusively to:

Validate access to your account and manage your permissions;
Process and assign credits purchased for use within the service.

4. Data Protection and Sharing

No Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics tools, behavioral trackers, or advertising cookies.
No Sharing: We do not sell your data or share it with marketing companies. Your data is only processed by our trusted infrastructure providers (such as Google Firebase) strictly to operate the service securely.
Infrastructure: Authentication data is processed in secure cloud environments that adhere to the strictest global information security standards.

5. Account Deletion and User Rights

Users have full autonomy over their presence on the service:

In-App Deletion: On the main screen, open the options menu (drawer) and tap the "Delete Account" button. Upon confirming the action, your account and its link to your email are immediately removed from our records.
Out-of-App Deletion: If you no longer have the application installed, you can request the immediate deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us via email at nandoxavierdesouza@gmail.com.
Messages: Because messages are automatically deleted every 60 seconds (and inactive chats after 5 minutes), there are no conversation records associated with the account at the time of deletion.

6. Children's Privacy

Occultis is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that an individual under 18 has provided us with personal data, we will take immediate steps to delete such information.

7. International Compliance

Occultis was developed to meet major international data protection and privacy requirements, ensuring users the right to be forgotten, the minimization of data collection, and transparency in global information processing.
